About the Race

The Scarecrow Classic 5K is celebrating its 10th year running! The 5K course winds through the scenic roads, fields, and trails of this historic New England town. This year we expect an enthusiastic crowd of more than 600 participants! Proceeds from this event support the Lincoln Land Conservation Trust (LLCT). LLCT helps manage more than 2,500 acres of land and nearly 80 miles of public trails as a regional recreational resource for the Greater Boston Area. This non profit organization is one of the oldest land trusts in the country and is recognized nationally for its conservation work.

Join us on Sunday, October 16th, 2022 for the race! Start time is 9:30 A.M. and there will be cider donuts waiting for participants at the finish line. We will also offer a virtual race option this year. Participants can run a 5K anywhere in the week leading up to the race. Shirts will be  available for pick up in Lincoln, MA on Saturday October 15th. Virtual participants are encouraged to share selfies and race times on social media.

All participants are expected to follow local and state public health recommendations at the race. We will kindly ask that participants wear a mask at the starting line and at the race venue.

10th Annual Gift: Running Cap

As a special gift for race participants, LLCT is celebrating the 10th Annual Scarecrow Classic 5K by offering a mesh running cap! This light weight but durable cap is a great addition to anyone’s running/walking gear. Registrants can request the cap on the registration form. Supplies are limited, so register early! Caps are only guaranteed to participants registered by October 3rd. Additional donations (available on the registration form) are gratefully accepted to help LLCT offer this extra gift in 2022.

BYOB

Bring your own water bottle! For the last five years, LLCT has asked that race participants bring their own water bottles to the race. Thank you for helping us to reduce single-use plastic at the race. There will be space for water bottle storage near the finish line, and racers are also encouraged to store a water bottle in their car or run/walk with water. Water will not be offered along the course or at the finish line. Thank you for your understanding!

A Green Race!

LLCT continues to make the race as environmentally friendly as possible. In the past, LLCT has composted all food waste from the race, and three years ago, we awarded winners with a Norfolk Pine. This year we continue to ensure the race is a safe experience for everyone and as part of our planning process, seek to minimize environmental impact wherever possible.

Our Sponsors

A big shout out to our sponsors for their continued support of the Scarecrow Classic 5K! We are so grateful to local businesses for partnering with us in support of conservation. Check out our Sponsor Page, and when you patronize one of these businesses, please let them you heard about them at the race!
